Ted Stubbersfield is an award-winning sawmiller (now retired) with a passion for timber - timber that is used well. When trading, he won awards for the quality of his timber and for the innovative products he developed. He was called in as a consultant on timber decking for the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Since 1997 ted has specialised in fully weather exposed timber structures and many regard him as Australia's foremost authority on the subject. He is an expert witness and educator in the field, publishing 21 guides to date on professional timber usage and design guides, including ‘Timber in Playgrounds’. This publication provides a comprehensive guide to designing, building and inspecting a timber playground that will be safe and very low maintenance.
