2018 Entries Gallery

The purpose of SAPIA’s Industry Awards Program is to support the association’s goal of promoting excellence in tennis court, sports field, playground and recreation facility design, construction, maintenance, surfacing and servicing as well as product innovation. The program recognises the work of its members who are participating in achieving this goal, and provides members with the opportunity to celebrate their work.

The winners of SAPIA’s 2018 Industry Awards competition were announced during the Gala Dinner held immediately after our National Conference at Mantra On Salt, Kingscliff, NSW on Friday 31 August 2018:


S1. CONSTRUCTION OF COMMERCIAL SPORTS COURTS

Project: Waitara Tennis Courts, Sydney
Construction of 6 competition sized tennis courts, which also double as a future 4000m2 flood management system for the Waitara and Hornsby Catchment.

Construction of a synthetic grass tennis court over an old lawn court. Installation of basketball tower, and conversion of one end of fence to drawback curtain.

S4. CONSTRUCTION OF SPORTS FACILITIES

Project: East Doncaster College VIC
Comprising a full-sized soccer field, the school multi-purpose facility caters for athletics (including a 100m sprint track and two lane long jump pit), futsal, cricket and other active play. An additional passive area and multi-sports courts resurface have also been completed. Our exclusive, award-winning cricket wicket training innovation has been installed to assist coaching.

Project: ILIM College Doveton VIC
Compact, custom designed school sports facility accommodating soccer, basketball, athletics, netball and hockey. The full design includes 1313m2 synthetic grass, incorporating modified soccer/hockey field with recessed goals integrated into the 3.6m high fence, two basketball and netball courts (including removable netball posts and extendable basketball backboards), a two-lane running track and eight LED lights for potential night recreational use.

Fit out of college gym to international standards:

P1. SURFACING OF REGIONAL PLAY SPACES
Winner: RubberTough Industries – www.rubbertough.com.au
Project: Ballam Park Frankston VIC
Ballam Park features many different play elements in its design. The basketball court, skate park, playground, tennis wall, picnic areas, and climbing frames; are all examples of the fun that is to be had here.  Boasting bright EPDM colours, this Council Playspace is sure to be a safe and enjoyable venture for the entire family.

P2. SURFACING OF COUNCIL OR SCHOOL PLAY SPACES
Winner: Surfacing Contractors Australia – www.surfcon.com.au
Project: Tree Top Park Craigieburn SA
Surfacing Contractors Australia were engaged to deliver the rubber softfall component, creating a path and pad network throughout the playspace over several levels, with large runs of tessellated steps being formed out of solid rubber, creating crazy walls for the kids to roam from tier to tier. PlayKote EPDM was selected to best match and complement the red theme of the European designed cable and tower play structure.

Project: Barry Road Park Lalor VIC
Barry Road Park in Lalor was designed to include a Senior Outdoor Fitness Station, specifically engineered for the older generation. The bright colours are aesthetically pleasing and enhance the green colours of the equipment.

Project: McDonalds Seymour VIC
RubberTough Industries installed a vibrant blue EPDM rubber surface as well as making a pack of McDonalds chips entirely out of rubber wet pour! This made for an exciting addition to the new playground.
